A High View of Scripture

For a full view of what we believe concerning the Bible I refer you to the words of the Westminster Confession - On the Holy Scriptures, which our church officially affirms. For a more concise statement than this read on.

We believe that the Bible, as contained in the Old and New Testaments, is the inspired word of God. We believe it to be authoritative in all matters of faith and practice. We believe that inspiration extended to the original autographs and that God has providentially preserved excellent and accurate copies of these so that our faith is in no sense hindered by minor variations, but rather strengthened. We do not believe that there is any such thing as a perfect translation of these scriptures into any language--such being contrary to the nature of languages. We do believe that we are blessed in our day to have many reliable translations of the Bible into English to which we have easy access. Our church uses the English Standard Version in public worship. Our worship is centered around the reading and the exposition (explaining or preaching) of the word of God.

In addition to the above, all our elders hold to the doctrine of the inerrancy of Scripture as articulated in the Chicago Statement on Biblical Inerrancy.
